One Million Cups

1 Million Cups is an arm of the Kauffman Foundation designed to promote entrepreneurship and regional development. The Abilene chapter of 1 Million Cups is a unique partnership between the Abilene Chamber of Commerce and McMurry University. The goal is to provide a bridge between theory and practice for the benefit of local and international entrepreneurs. Our guests at 1 Million cups have included entrepreneurs from Abilene and from as far away as Europe, and hail from industries such as food services, insurance, banking, real estate, and furniture making. Guests benefit from insight from multiple local stakeholders, including funders, members of the chamber of commerce, local entrepreneurs, and McMurry faculty. Guests should prepare a 15 minute presentation describing their business, and concluding with something they need help with from the audience. Needs can be anything – the guests might need help with funding, networking, marketing, acquiring customers, or general advice. The event is always held the last Wednesday of the month at 9 am.
